Interpretatie
Urinezuur is een afbraakprodukt van nucleïnezuren. Behalve bij primaten wordt het bij alle andere zoogdieren omgezet tot allantoïne.
Een beruchte uitzondering op deze regel zijn Dalmatiërs, die zoals de mens uraat in hun urine uitscheiden.
